Jessie Owens - from Ohio State University - didn't shy away from a fight against the Nazis in the 1936 Olympics. It was loud. Excited people were shouting. He fought on anyway.
Curtis LeMay - from Columbus Ohio - didn't shy away from a fight against the Japanese Zeros in the Pacific Theatre. It was loud. Excited people were shouting. He fought on anyway.
Eddie Rickenbacker - from Columbus Ohio - didn't shy away from Luftwaffe over France during World War One. It was loud. Excited people were shouting. He fought on anyway.
Judy Resnik - from Akron Ohio - didn't shy away from the Challenger Shuttle space mission in 1986 as crew member engineer. It was loud. Excited people were shouting. She fought on anyway.
Get the idea?
It takes courage and guts to face the unknwon, an adversary, forces which can tear you apart. We could mention hundreds and thousands of Ohio examples in addition to the rest of America. We are a nation of fighters and heroes.
Why then are the House Republicans so squeamish about 20 or so of their members having a principled debate right out in the open? Yes, it's loud. Excited people are shouting.
So what. Fight on anyway.
While the RINOs and the GOP swamp grandees exclaim "It's chaos!" "It's embarrassing!" "It's going to hurt order and discipline within the Party!", the other part of the GOP - the part with backbone and conservative principles - wants to have a debate about America's future.
This debate is surrounding the selection of the Speaker of The House of Representatives. The Republicans get to pick that person, who will be third in the line of succession to the presidency. Who will control what gets to the floor for a vote. Who will set the agenda to oppose the insanity of the Biden Regime.
The Freedom Caucus conservatives want REAL legislation on the 87,000 IRS new hires, on the open Mexican border, on Biden's foreign pay-offs and bribes, on accountability for Ukraine spending, on the FBI and CIA run amok suppressing free speech, on federal policy on opposite sex sports blending, on the weakening of the military, on the looming ChiCom super power, on nuclear proliferation in Iran and elsewhere, on the war against domestic US energy, on CDC reform, on ObamaCare reform, etc etc.
But no!
Kevin McCarthy doesn't want to guarantee those items will be thoroughly investigated and aggressively pursued. Well tough, we want this conversation.
It's perfectly OK to have several rounds of votes. Lots of speeches. And flailing of arms. Good!
Rock and roll, people. This is what real politics looks like when you are in the middle of hardcore negotiations.
No more slick maneuvers in smoke-filled back rooms. Let it out and let's get down. The swamp creatures are not used to this sort of real fight in the light of day. It is a worthy fight, and it needs to happen. The scaredy cats call this terrible and outrageous. But it's nothing of the kind.
Americans are entitled to real honesty in government. They aren't being mis-served by "MAGA Republicans" or "Taliban Republicans". Not at all. The conservatives want a putative Speaker McCarthy to lay down some markers, some firm promises, and to dust his ass if he backs out once he's elected as Speaker.
Keep fighting, brave GOP warriors, until we get the answers we deserve. We have plenty of time.
