Israel Was Wrong To Use Indiscriminate Hand Bombs, So Begins Another Cycle Of Violent Revenge
No one is more anti-Hezbollah and more anti-Hamas than me.
But violence and revenge go hand in hand, even more insanely when the hands are blown off.
They have ruined Lebanon, Israel, Gaza and the West Bank. Iran's islamofascist mullahs finance these groups if not outright direct their activities. Most viciously their terrorism by Hamas on Oct 7, 2023.
But that doesn't justify the mass non-specific pager (yesterday) and radio attacks (today) by Israel. It is akin to land mines buried in an enemy civilian city. It is not targeted in a meaningful way. It is an indiscriminate tactic despite the rah-rah blind media that touts "pinpoint targeting of Hezbollah thugs". I don't buy it. Innocents were certainly harmed in horrific ways by these "smart bombs".
After you seed the city with hand-held explosives, how do you know who is holding it? Who exactly will lose a limb or a life? Don't you care? You are the great Jewish state and a great people and a noble military. This is beneath you. And it pains me to say it.
People recycle and sell pagers and radios to others, even if the first owner was allegedly Hezbollah/Hamas. Pagers and radios are left on dressers and kitchen tables in a home. They are attractions and toys to children.
Lebanon is complexly ruled by a delicate coalition government of Muslim and Christians. Lebanon is also infected by Iran-backed Hezbollah in many of the neighborhoods, like the Mafia, an alternative government within society. Many Lebanese live between a rock and hard place. Wanting peace and order from the constitutionally elected government, but forced to live under the oppressive Hezbollah street authority.
Does Israel want a wider war with her neighbors? Creating more generational hate by blowing up people adjacent or haphazardly holding one of these devices when they exploded? In a land where grievances go back centuries, is it wise to create another greivance? Another pretext for follow-on retribution and killing? Even by people who were not Hezbollah affiliates? That's crazy! Certainly some in the Israeli cabinet must have objected to this stupid campaign. They should speak up and resign in protest.
If many innocent deaths and maimings are shown to have been inflicted upon non-combatants by the exploding pagers and radios, this will backfire against Israel. A lot of international goodwill will sadly evaporate.
Israel has every right to act against threats, up to the point of non-discretionary tactics. But this was akin to total war.
The Gaza War is also not what I had hoped, where a sledgehammer was wrought instead of a scalpel in civilian areas. If true, 20,000+ Gazan deaths have been inflicted by Israeli rockets and artillery, most of which were not deaths of Hamas terrorists. Eye for an eye has been accomplished months ago. Now it is the systematic decimation of an entire population. I am sided with Israel, and DO NOT appreciate the broad brush by PR flaks in the media that people who advocate surgical strikes against Hamas and Hezbollah are ergo “Jew haters”. That is truly asinine. I am pro-Israel, and limiting innocent civilian deaths IS pro-Israel!
I love the Jewish people.
But I do not support of Israel’s deadly overreach in its "sensationally innovative and technically brilliant" fight-terror-with-terror tactics in Lebanon and Gaza. Israel is wiser and smarter than that.
If you don't believe that Israel should have learned its lesson about bombing innocent people, look up "Operation Wrath of God" July 21, 1973 in Lillehammer Norway, and what overzealous and sloppy revenge policies lead to: Innocents dying.
Will generals and national leaders ever learn?
