Drag Racing On The Streets of Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland

We kick things off by diving into a sobering discussion about the organized banking scheme that recently came to light. Merrick Garland and the DOJ are now focusing on individuals rather than corporations, which took us back to the First Energy scandal here in Ohio. Norm brought up the TD Ameritrade scandal, highlighting how they admitted to laundering $600 million and settled for $3 billion! It’s mind-boggling that small businesses face heavy scrutiny under the Corporate Transparency Act, but these big banks often get a pass.

Our conversation naturally transitions from there to politics. Kamala Harris and Ron DeSantis are butting heads over immigration policies and hurricane management, with DeSantis being praised for his logistics expertise. Norm pointed out Kamala’s inconsistency and criticized her attempts to politicize hurricane recovery.

Speaking of hurricane recovery, we can’t overlook the dedication of linemen and power workers. Florida’s proactive preparation, with DeSantis organizing 30,000 bucket trucks and linemen ahead of hurricanes, deserves massive kudos. Their grassroots efforts are essential and often overshadow bureaucratic procedures.

A huge part of our episode focuses on the challenging topic of voter ID laws. One of our listeners, a trainee election volunteer, was warned against enforcing voter ID rules, leading to a broader discussion on Ohio’s voter ID requirements versus states like California. We question the fairness and accessibility of voter IDs, noting that they’re required for many daily transactions.

Brett shares news about the $14 million grant from the Ohio Department of Development to the meat processing industry. However, we scrutinize whether these grants are equitably distributed, echoing concerns from the COVID-19 aid distribution.

We wrap up with discussions on street racing in Columbus, emphasizing organized racing as a safer alternative. Norm even shared his personal involvement in promoting legal racing events.

Don’t forget to check out the Pumpkin Show in Circleville, Ohio, this week! It promises to be a fantastic event with community spirit shining bright.
