What Does 2024 Have in Store?
Everyone likes to predict the future. Some predictions seem to be wishes. Some predictions seem to be pretty well grounded in fact. I don’t usually take part in “predicting the future,” but what 2024 may bring is just too enticing not to give a shot at.
Here are more top 2024 predictions, based on nothing but “gut feeling” with a bit of common sense.
1) There will not be any presidential debates.
Considering who the front runners are for both the Democratic and Republican parties, I don’t see these two gentlemen taking the stage to debate.
First, Donald Trump doesn’t need to take the stage. He has every word captured by the media, so when he speaks, it is heard by the masses. He says he’s open to them, but that’s early 2024 Donald Trump speaking.
Secondly, Joe Biden’s team probably doesn’t want Joe to take the stage. His campaign is currently “focusing on building out the campaign and infrastructure.”
I just don’t see it in the cards. And this leads to my second prediction.
2) Social media will be corrupt with misinformation produced by AI
Trump will rely HEAVILY on social media to get his message out, as he did before. And the Biden campaign will have to recognize this is (sadly) our current forum to sling the mud. And foreign “bad actors” are salivating over the opportunity to create content to divert our attention with misinformation, and disinformation (or just bold-faced lies).
I may take a long holiday from social media in 2024 because of that.
3) Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose will not be a factor in the Ohio GOP’s Senate nomination
Going up against state Sen. Matt Dolan of Chagrin Falls, OH, and Westlake entrepreneur Bernie Moreno, he just will run out of money. Coupled with his questionable office move and staff shenanigans, his name will not be able to push him over the finish line to go up against incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown. Dolan and Moreno are better funded.
My pick - Moreno against Brown, and Brown remains in office.
4) The Wars
My hope is I am correct in these predictions. Both the Russia-Ukraine war and the Israel-Hamas conflict will end in 2024.
Israel is being courted by various countries with options to end the fighting. And with Western aid in question for Ukraine, that country will step up its game to force Putin to realize he has lost too much in this.
5) Your next check-up visit will be with a robot
We don’t have enough people to handle our healthcare. Artificial intelligence is now detecting cancer and robots are doing nursing tasks. But are there risks to handing over elements of our health to machines, no matter how sophisticated?
A Hong Kong team behind the celebrity humanoid robot Sophia is launching a new prototype, Grace, targeted at the healthcare market and designed to interact with the elderly and those isolated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
6) Up to 50 people will ruin their eyesight during the April 2024 eclipse
The Buckeye State is in the path of totality for the next solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. But not heeding the warnings that will be everywhere, there will always be those knuckleheads who don’t think this pertains to them.
Or, my second solar eclipse prediction - cloudy skies completely cover the eclipse, and we are left with an early evening feel.
7) No Can Narcan
Back in September 2023, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced expanding the state’s Project DAWN to install Naloxone, also known as Narcan, overdose recovery nasal spray kits at rest stops across Ohio. Project DAWN is partnering with the RecoveryOhio initiative and the Ohio Department of Transportation to provide Narcan kits at rest stops.
Ingenious, because that is the FIRST PLACE I would think to look for Narcan while I am traveling around Ohio. This project will die the way of the Dodo bird.
2024 is going to one for the ages, count on it.
