Sanctuaries, You’re On Your Own

Local decisions about how people choose to govern themselves is intrinsically American.

Whether the Vermont Town Meeting or the several boroughs of Gotham, each town, city, county, and state can take on those programs and facilities it wishes - along with the consequent costs and management for those decisions.

Right? Right!

If the Des Moines city council, for example, wants to put all of its LEOs on 10-speed bicycles in clown suits with big red shoes, that's the right and privilege of Des Moines to do that. Their city. Their call. The consequences are theirs and theirs alone.

That's how adults do things.

Use the power reserved to them in the US Constitution as states and localities to organize and run their affairs. As they see fit, and within their own means. Responsibly or irresponsibly.

Continuing with our hypothetical, people outside of Des Moines - from other states and towns - having had no vote, no say, and no voice in the decisions undertaken by Des Moines do not owe any time, trouble, or MONEY to Des Moines.

You run your town any way you want.

We'll run our town the way we want.

Let those who wish to be spendthrifts, irresponsible, woke, or insane proceed as they are constitutionally protected in doing for themselves. Let the chips fall!

(And the above is not a commentary on Des Moines. I have no particular knowledge about the sanity of that city, yes or no.)

Where exactly do the so-called virtuous "Sanctuary" cities, states, and counties get off on asking the rest of the country to foot the bill for their spending largesse and profligate policies?

They decided to crowd their schools, hospitals, tenements, and welfare rolls with illegal aliens (the legal term for those who overstay their visas or enter the USA without any legal process, jumping the line while other putative immigrants wait for their turn to be considered within the law).

The "Sanctuaries" wagged their fingers at the rest of the country, calling us haters, racists, and uncompassionate.

Oh really? Well, well, NYC, LA, SF, Chicago, California, New York State, and so on and so forth. It is on you that you can't walk your talk. You talked BS and failed to live up to your billings. Just like we predicted you would fail.

You have 85,000 estimated children who came in illegally just under Biden and are unaccompanied by family, and whose whereabouts and condition is unknown. Children! Or don't you care? Where's all that virtue now?

People teeming outside of shelters and "Sanctuary" hotels and churches, laying in defecated and drug-infested streets, outdoors, with no plan, no jobs, few skills, little literacy, no accurate database of who they are or what their personal histories are. Chaos.

After decades of invading the South, invading states like Texas and Arizona, suddenly it's a problem? Because they are in your communities! But you invited them in - by ordinance, by legislation, and by local policy. You did that. Not us.

You didn't care when the illegals were somewhere else. But, my God! Martha's Vineyard! Oh no!

Damned fools. No, not a dime from my community. You did this to yourselves.

I want good schools, safe streets, and an adequate safety net for American citizens.

And let's get one thing straight. I don't give a rat's rectum if the illegals are from Scandinavia, Swaziland, South Korea, or Singapore. I don't care about color, ethnicity, boo-hoo stories, or any identity aspects whatsoever. We should treat illegals as well as legitimate amnesty claimants WITHOUT REGARD TO their personal born-as characteristics.

Anything other than that, and YOU ARE THE RACIST.
