We as a country have a very short memory. We've learned nothing from 9-11.
It's only been twenty-two years since four commerical aircraft were hijacked and all hands onboard killed in a terrorist attack on the United States resulting in almost 3000 immediate deaths (approximately 4000 if post-attack related deaths are included).
The United States evicted the Hussein Dynasty from power in Iraq and the Taliban Dictatorship from Afghanistan (until Biden gave it back to them).
There were 7000 US military KIA in the two theaters of operation. And 52,000 wounded, including horrible IED dismemberments.
Altogether America spent $22 Trillion on military and civilian costs in the "War On Terror", and that doesn't even include rebuilding the Pentagon and the Twin Tower sites.
And yet, almost immediately the DC power structure ignored common sense recommendations of the 9-11 Commission Report.
We STILL have not secured our country's physical borders, despite the 9-11 plotters being foreign citizens.
We STILL have not fixed the immigration system to track and arrest those who overstay their visas or enter covertly.
We STILL have "sanctuary cities", states, and woke corporations and churches who harbor criminal immigrants.
Could the United States and its citizens and its leadership be ANY more daft?
President DubbaYou failed to immediately build border walls in the aftermath of September 11, 2001. Job One should have been to secure the borders. Full stop. Starting on September 12, 2001.
DC did nothing on the border until President Trump managed to patch together 500 miles along the Southern Border. It is - of course - incomplete and has been cut open for "antelope mating migration" (I kid you not) by President Biden. The DNC wants the illegal antelope vote, I guess.
The rest of the 1900 mile border remains totally open except for official border crossing stations.
Every month 100,000 to 200,000 illegals cross the Mexican frontier into the US.
Even more illegals come in via conventional means, by air or automobile, using false documents or overstaying educational and work visas.
If it's compassion that makes our national security a sieve, one must necessarily ask, what kind of "compassion" allows our schools, hospitals, Section 8 housing, workplaces, and streets to be overrun. It is American grandparents, American children, American working class taxpayers who are paying the cost of open borders. Where is the compassion for them?
Fools like Eric Adams, mayor of NYC, rant about Texas and Florida offering illegals a ride to his city. He whines about his so-called "sanctuary city" of New York having to deal with 110,000 illegals. Dude! That is only one month's illegal tally in Texas! And why don't you house them in your mansion, Mr. Mayor?
It is not hard to see where this is all going.
There will be another 9-11, as illegals from far-flung places flow across the Mexican border with the US. We have no idea who they are. The Border Patrol reports illegals from all over the world, including hostile places like China, Russia, Africa, Middle East, and Europe.
Like the 9-11 "holy war" jihadist cell which hit the strip clubs while taking flying lessons, new sleeper cells and enemy combatants are surely being established via our illegal immigration pipeline.
There is already a slew of illegals committing DUI killings, rapes, murders, robberies, and human sex trafficking.
But a shattering event on the scale of September 11, 2001 is percolating as we dawdle. America has forgotten. Or doesn't care.
It's going to happen again.
And when it does, we will have on full display our dishonor of the heroic sacrifices made on and after 9-11 by our military, police, firefighters, and ordinary civilians. They sacrified for us. And we don't remember.
Shame on us.
